Hole in the Wall Camp – Part Deux

Catching up after spending an AWESOME week with Bobbie Lane in Farmington studying light – advanced studio lighting, finding and seeing the light, outdoor and indoor flash, direct sun, shade, and everything in between! HIGHLY recommended for anyone wanting to commit to improving their craft.

So I’ve got piles of images to process both from last week and the week prior when I was running around like a mad person.

Not sure if there is anything better than spending time at Hole in the Wall Camp. This particular day was one of the hottest (to date) in a very hot July, so we tried to find some shade to keep the kids cool but more importantly so Pete and I wouldn’t pass out. The kids didn’t seem to mind it at all!

Again, these beautiful kids, whether they were shy and dragging a smile from them was the biggest challenge of the day or they just came off the set of Americas Next Best Model, are a joy to be with for the 5 or so minutes we got with each of them. They will remain in my heart always.

And again a huge thank you to Pete who kept me on track and moved me along when all I wanted to do is sit and talk with the kids

Kids Portraits at Hole in the Wall Camp

I was blessed to spend Saturday morning at the Hole in the Wall Camp, founded by Paul Newman as a respite for kids with serious illnesses.

The portrait sessions are set up by Flashes of Hope who work with volunteer photographers providing families with portraits of their young children in hospital or camp surroundings.

The sessions are done really quickly so the kids don’t miss any of the fabulous opportunities the camp has to offer; each of my kids gave me a huge hug or a firm handshake after the 10 minute sessions. I am truly blessed to have healthy children, and to interact with these extra special kids is a gift. This is a session I’ll never forget-kids from all over the world, and down the road; acting goofy for those I couldn’t communicate with, and was rewarded with goofy laughing that transcends language barriers.

I can’t wait for the July session.

I was so happy when Sarah emailed the other day to say that number #2 was on the way, and that she wanted to do a maternity session-little Conor was just a wee little guy the last time we did a session, but I remember his laugh and smile which hasn’t changed at all. Every time I do a maternity session I am stunned with the beauty a pregnant woman holds. I sure don’t remember the glow, especially with only a month to go, and wish I had done a session to remember it by.

Sarah seems like she is re-living my life from–ahem–a few years ago and it appears will carry on with the loving children that I’ve been blessed with.

Thanks again-it is terrific to catch up with you–and I want to see the baby!!

at nearly 19 months old and a ball of energy! She is a beautiful child with curls that some of pay big bucks for, and so sweet tempered. I arrived at her new nap time and she didn’t complain once, except at the very end when Mom, Dad, a bottle and her bed was all she needed. What a joy!

I can’t wait to see what next month brings!

After reviewing, reloading and reliving the past 12 months for this new blog/site I’ve decided to post or repost some of my favoites from 2008.

I’ve been fortunate to do so many infants and children photograh sessions as well as photograph weddings all over New England so the job might be tough.

I’m going to start with Sweet William whom I photographed for 3 sessions, his last at about 3 months old. These were done with William and his mom and dad at their home. These could be some of my all time favorites.

It’s such a joy to see how much she grows, visible now every time I go see them.

Kids growing up too fast!

Baby Emma has grown up to be such a sweet little girl! She has the most enviable head of curls and a smile that won’t quit. She’s walking like a real pro, curious about everything and fearless about nothing. When we took a walk out back today she was in her element-it was hard to keep up with her! What a terrific way to spend the afternoon–and it was great to see Jackie, Becky and Mike again. Thank you all!

Little Emma was very very early last spring and her grandma asked if I could document her growth monthly over her first year. SHe had a few problems asssociated with her early arrival but is becoming a real little princess. Here she is at around 11 months old.
