The Year in Photos: Part One

A couple of my favorite personal photos: playing around, personals, things that made me laugh a little:

“The All Photographers Need to be in Focus Series”

dad

Dad is pretty much a ham! I gave him one of my older DSLRs a few years ago, and he still can’t get over the fact that you can’t line up the prisms in the viewfinder. We’re working on learning how to get the photos from the camera to the computer.

me

For everyone who DOESN’T like having their picture taken, I completely and utterly commiserate. That’s why we have so much fun when I’m doing the picture taking:)

And of course Bailey didn’t want to be stuck in the car when everyone was having so much fun outside.

I love to travel, but didn’t get very far this year: DC, which I adore and so convenient since Morgan lives right outside the District (and I can’t wait to get back for the Cherry Blossoms!) Took the nephews down for a few days since they had never been

Didn’t make Martha’s Vineyard as much as usual since my weekends were pretty much booked solid, but the 4th of July is always off the calendar. Reading of the Declaration of Independence has been an annual family and friends tradition since ~1946, and Dad let Morgan be the guest speaker since she has missed the past 2 celebrations while serving in Iraq.

Chilmark pond was opened to allow the water level to drop, and in the incoming tide caused large dunes along the ocean side. Such a cool shot of the water coming up and splashing the dunes.  One of my all time favorites cause it’s so weird.

Stay tuned for favorite wedding photos from the year. So many to choose from!!

Martha’s Vineyard Weddings-The Marriage of Patty and Jeff

Patty and Jeff were married on Martha’s Vineyard at St. Elizabeth’s and had their reception at the Winnetu, both in Edgartown (Katama) this past Saturday.

Run your toes through the sand

It was the PERFECT fall day-warm and sunny-which also describes their families and friends who traveled from New York, California, and Korea! Patty and Jeff decided to do it their way-with closest friends and family and they made a fabulous weekend of it at my favorite place in the world.

The day began early at the Winnetu in Katama, and despite fuses blowing, the talented crew of Wavelengths enhanced Patty, both Moms and Catherine’s own natural beauty.

The guys were ready EARLY so Pete went down to play in the gigantic chess set with them.

Patty, you are a  BEAUTIFUL bride, and the dress details were simple and stunning.

Wedding Dress Details

Beautiful Bride!

A beautiful old Rolls Royce brought Patty and her Dad to church, and one of the longest stretch limos I’ve ever seen brought other family members into town. TBH I would have had a stroke driving such a vehicle around the narrow streets of Edgartown–but the guys at Vineyard Limousine made it around town like they were on scooters.

The rings…. don’t worry I got ‘em:)

Best Man-Has it all!

I think the chair legs need to be shortened a little.

I love love love the quiet walk around time with my couples. They can relax, laugh about past nervousness, and smile with unabashed love for each other. I like to stand back and just let them be alone. Good times.

The filets were butterknife tender–and cooked perfectly-not too rare, and not too well done. Nothing remained on my plate.

This cake was unbelievable, created by Cakes by Liz.  I usually refrain because of my diet, but it didn’t count because it was wedding day, and I’m not sorry I indulged. OMG the buttercream melted in my mouth, but not before the chocolate ganache and strawberry shortcake made me shiver with deliciousness:)

The Lure of the Vineyard. Ain’t it the truth. Especially since it was  a popular Derby Day:)

All the details are so important, but it’s really all about the people. I can only hope my daughters have a Maid of Honor as thoughtful and attentive as Catherine. And that I can be as graceful as Patty’s and Jeff’s Moms.

Thank you. For everything. Your kindness, your families and friends, your insistence that we eat (THANK YOU!!) your playfulness, for including us as family. Pete and I had a wonderful time celebrating with you. And when you are down again, we’ll do the HomePort for dinner, and Menemsha Beach for sunset. On me. Or maybe I’ll have to visit Dix Hills.

Trash the Dress!

What a fun afternoon with Rachel and Leeann ‘trashing’ Rachel’s dress in Webster Lake the other day.

It was a mix of a bridal session and TTD; the dress was not ruined as we didn’t get into the mud or dirt-just a little wet. The water was warm, and it felt good to cool off a little while working kinda hard:)

Thanks to Terry and Peter for use of the cottage, and to Pete and Kik for the human light stand help.

Here are a couple teasers while the others are being processed.
