When I first read about becoming a CPP a few years ago, it was a goal to complete the requirements and I did it!
The requirements are to sit for a 2 hour multiple choice exam which covers all aspects of the technicals of photography: light, how to use light, best use of different cameras and lenses, best lighting for different situations and people, color theory, digital darkroom (as opposed to a wet darkroom) etc etc etc.
The second part for certification is to submit 20 images from different jobs and different people specific to the photographer’s work/services offered, to be reviewed and accepted by 5 Master photographers, that show all the technical issues are implemented.
There are approximately 2500 CPP worldwide.
Whoooop! I got notification last week that I passed!
The certification program requires re-certification every 5 years, which means education must be continually updated, quality must be maintained, training in new techniques etc.
But the most important benefit is for you, my client. Always. And a huge thank you to clients who have worked with me to create lasting memories — techniques and trends will always change, but memories are for always.
